The right resolutions for a good start to 2020

Daniela Vigano nutrition

Lhe end of year is much more than just a vacation period. We often see it as a new beginning, as a precious container of new possibilities. Who has never said these words “I can’t wait for this new year to begin, to write a new chapter”.

The human brain tends to focus on what failed to meet our expectations, the objective that we did not achieve and which caused us some suffering.

In reality, with a little effort of memory and looking back over the last 12 months… what a surprise awaits us! Among the difficulties, those that we want to see as failures, problems... there is an immense list of magical moments, of successes which have allowed us to evolve, to discover ourselves and to know ourselves even better, experiences which will allow us to go even further in the next 12 months and achieve even greater goals!

Aim to feel healthier, in better shape, eat healthily, change your lifestyle to have more energy!!!

Here are some tips I want to share with you:

1. First, clarify and decide your 2020 goal

2. Whatever your goal, ask yourself these questions:
What makes this important to me?
What does this mean for my life?
Who will I be when I achieve this goal?
What will be the consequences of moving away from my goal?
How will I feel when I achieve the results I want?
The why, so compelling, full of emotions and positive consequences, will direct you towards success!

3. Write your goal in a journal, as well as your actions!

These first 3 points are strongly recommended for all your goals

4. Avoid fad diets, often strict, unsustainable, generators of frustration

5. Veganize your diet: seasonal fruits and vegetables should represent 80% of your daily diet. Nature gives us everything we need!

6. Fill your shopping carts with “real food” (fresh and local fruits and vegetables wherever possible, whole grains, grains and oilseeds, local organic meats, fatty fish, free-range organic eggs, etc.) and leave ultra-processed products, poor in nutrients, on the shelves, not very ecological, too often rich in salt and added sugars. The planet and your body will thank you!

7. Listen to your body: avoid eating out of habit, out of boredom, avoid eating your emotions. In 4 simple words, eat mindfully.

8. Learn to read labels: this allows you to avoid choosing a product for marketing purposes and to become aware of the quality of your purchases, while becoming an actor in your health!

9. Cook more! It requires little extra effort, there are quick tips and tools to spend a very reasonable amount of time in the kitchen.

10. Chart your progress in a journal: results, emotions, experiences…

And above all, don’t forget to celebrate your successes and thank yourself for this commitment.

This concrete change that you are offering yourself will allow you to experience an even more extraordinary year.
